Probiotic Tonic for a Healthy Mind, Body and Soul

Rainbow Cloud Kombucha has been handmade in Western Washington since 2012. Our brew is 100% raw and fermented in American White Oak wine barrels.  Oak gives our brew a special body and flavor that is simply divine! We recycle and reuse 100% of our 64oz growlers, and support locally owned businesses!  We use organic ingredients and make every small batch with love and positive vibrations! Frequently Asked Kombucha Questions

  • What is Kombucha?  Kombucha is a naturally fermented probiotic tea.  It is often used for medicinal purposes, and contains many beneficial enzymes, antioxidants, B vitamins, and acids.  It is made by fermenting tea using a mother "SCOBY," AKA Symbiotic Colony of Bacteria and Yeasts.

  • Is Rainbow Cloud Kombucha pasteurized?  Our kombucha is 100% raw; pasteurizing it would kill the beneficial bacteria and enzymes!  Buyers beware-  There are some kombucha companies on the market that do pasteurize their brew. Not all kombucha is created equal!

  • Is Kombucha safe for children or women who are pregnant or nursing?   There are some important points to consider: First, there is a trace amount of alcohol in kombucha, due to the fermentation process.  Second, kombucha contains mild levels of caffeine.  Third, kombucha aids in detoxifying the body; intense detoxing is generally not recommended for women who are pregnant or nursing.  If you are concerned about if kombucha is right for you or your child, it is best to consult a natural health practitioner.  As with all things, moderation is key!

  • Why are some bottles fizzier than others?  Kombucha is a raw, living culture and is naturally carbonated by gas during the fermentation process.  This produces a fine, champagne-like bubble.  Kombucha that is "flat" or less fizzy is simply fresher and hasn't had enough time to create gas to build significant pressure.  If you would like your kombucha more fizzy, simply leave the bottle at room temperature for a day and place it back in the refrigerator.

  • Is kombucha Vegan?  Gluten-free? Kombucha is 100% vegan and gluten-free!

  • Can kombucha cure my illness? Kombucha is a raw, fermented food.  It has been enjoyed as a health tonic for thousands of years, and contains acids which work to aid in digestion and detoxification, and strengthen the immune system.  That said, it should never be used in lieu of professional treatment.  A healthy balanced diet can be the best form of prevention against most diseases.  Consult your doctor if you have a specialized illness or disease to see if drinking kombucha or other forms of probiotics is right for you.

  • There is a stringy blob in my 'booch.  Is it safe to drink? The strands which may develop in your bottle are baby SCOBY's forming!  They are culture strands and are especially healthy to drink.  If it is too weird for you, you don't have to drink them :-)
